MMR VACCINE
Indication
MMR, a live attenuated vaccine(priorix), is recommended as a
backup dose for protection against measles in the second year of life (at
around 15 months of age, at least 3 months following primary measles
vaccination in the first year).
Dose
0.5 ml(SC) at 15-18 months.
Contraindications
- Immunodeficiency
- Recent
administration of immunoglobulins
- Known
anapjylaxis due to egg allergy
Adverse reactions
- Fever
and febrile seizures
- Lymphadenitis
- Parotitis
The suspicion of a causal relationship of MMR vaccine with
autism is unfounded.
