LYMPH NODES
EXAMINATION OF INFANT OR CHILD
Note the location, size, consistency, mobility, tenderness
and warmth of lymph nodes, particularly in the suboccipital, preauricular,
anterior and posterior cervical, submaxillary, sublingual, axillary, epitrochlear
and inguinal regions. Posterior auricular and suboccipital adenitis may be the
result of otitis externa, scalp infection or lice. Palpable nodes up to 1 cm in
inguinal region and up to 3 mm in rest of the areas may well be passed as
within normal limits in healthy children.
